A Liturgy for Those Longing for More in Their Marriage

LITURGY FOR THE MOMENT A liturgy for those longing for more in their marriage 10.20.24 Genesis 2:23-25 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. 25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. Genesis 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. · God’s Design: Oneness · Effects of Sin: Division · Through the Spirit: Unity Emotional disconnection creates distance. Distance creates space for the Enemy to plant seeds. When a couple shares a deep, emotional connection? · Teammates not just roommates · There is so much more grace you give one another… · Your spiritual and sexual intimacy are intensified When a couple loses their emotional connection? · Distance creates misunderstanding and misalignment · There is little grace for one another… · Your spiritual and sexual intimacy seems transactional at best We must exercise the power of vulnerability and honesty in our marriages to destroy the work of the Enemy and create a place of love and security. “Erotic love can be depicted as two people looking at one another, friendship can be depicted as two people standing side by side looking at the same object and begin stirred and entranced by it together.” – C.S. Lewis It's not if you drop the ball, but when, and if you choose to pick it back up again. QUESTIONS: · Am I willing to do whatever it takes to regain what has been lost? · Am I creating a safe space for my spouse to be open and honest about what is broken? · Is there something I need to own or ask for forgiveness in order for an emotional connection to be reestablished?
